From Version 10.5, most adjustments to the Name Space can now be made using the Namespace Web Console. The legacy Windows Name Space Editor (described here) is still required for some landlord functions, e.g. setting up Incoming Call Routes.
The Name Space Editor is a tool used to define the Softdial Contact Center™ configuration according to the environment required. Typical configuration that is controlled from the Name Space Editor window:
Whenever a new tenant, agent or campaign is created, Softdial automatically creates a default entry in the Namespace. Additional configuration of these entites is principally done via the Name Space Editor.
The Namespace configuration is stored in [C:]\Softdial\SP\Dialer Database\Name Spaces\NameSpace.xml
In a hosting environment, a landlord user can define tenant configuration and set resource quotas for each tenant. From version 10.5 this would normally be done using the Namespace Web Console, although some functions (such as setting up Incoming Call routes) still must be done in the namespace directly.
Right click on the Softdial Control Center tray icon , and select Namespace Editor.
You will be presented with the following dialog:
Fig. 1 - Version 10 Namespace
Fig. 2 - Version 9 Namespace
The Name Space Editor dialogue is very different in Version 10. The set up options are described in detail in the Control Center section of the help document.
The Namespace is organised hierarchically. If you are familiar with the Windows Registry editor (regedit), it shouldn't take long to get an understanding.
Each node may contain a series of named data items of a particular type. For example:
Green items - may be edited by any user with can access to the namespace
Yellow items - should only be edited by landlord users
Red items - should only be edited by Sytel
